Moonies. We will explore their belief systems and how we as Christians can be
better able to explain our faith when talking to members of such groups.

woman’s place in society, the home, and the Church is relevant for every 21st
century Christian. This course compares the place and role of women in Judaism,

this course will lay biblical foundations for understanding human personhood,

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) is a very valuable tool for anyone considering working abroad or wishing to support second language speakers in their own churches or communities. In this introductory course you will develop your own understanding of the intricacies of the language and will be introduced to a range of techniques and practical activities for helping students learn English.
The course consists of 12 two hour workshops plus completion of a portfolio and teaching of a short practical lesson. The course runs from September – December, with assessment taking place in January and February. A limited number of places are available on this course.

 Who is Jesus?
An intentionally accessible course for those with learning disabilities. ‘Who is Jesus?’ explores the person of Jesus in the Bible, and in Church teaching today.

 Discipleship: Theology and Practice
Please note: This class is specifically for those with a hearing impairment and will be taught solely using Sign Language.

This 27–week course offers scriptural, historical and practical teaching
on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and how this is lived out in

Tuesday evenings @ BBC are an integral part of our programme of part–time learning, offering those who are unable to study during the day the opportunity to access learning at BBC, along with the option of working towards a college award. Classes run from September to May, giving individuals the opportunity to choose between a variety of six week modules. Assessment for these modules is totally optional, so you can simply come and take one module, or you can choose modules throughout the year and be assessed on these.

Access Learning Awards
For those choosing not to pursue a University of Cumbria qualification, there will also be the opportunity to work towards a BBC Access Learning Award. For the academic year 2012 / 2013 you will be able to take evening class modules which will lead to a Foundation Award or an Advanced Award.
The requirements for obtaining these awards will be as follows:
Foundation Award – Successful completion of 48 class hours + required assignments
Advanced Award – Successful completion of 96 class hours + required assignments
You can work towards these awards over a maximum of three years, but you should let us know at the time of applying that you plan to do this, so that your academic records can be compiled as you proceed through the programme.
